Hello all,
The library will be closed for renovations and Labor Day weekend from Thursday, September 3, 2026 to Monday, September 7, 2026. As customary, books will not be due on these days and fines will not be accumulated. Remember that even when the library is closed, you have 24/7 access to our catalog of eBooks and audiobooks on Libby as well as our streaming catalog of movies, television shows, and documentaries via Kanopy. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 for regular operating hours!
This Saturday! Our annual Back to School Book Fest is back! This year we are partnering with Sparks Lab, a non-profit organization founded and led by Lorena Pachiardi, to bring a new specialized series of interactive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) workshops to San Juan Community Library. Open to ages 7+.
Other activities include: story time at noon, $5 bag sale, and fine amnesty. Remember to arrive early to claim your Blast From the Past renewal! First 10 members to claim this offer can renew their memberships for $2 for a whole year. Activity Schedule:
10:30 am-2:30 pm: $5 Bag Sale & Fine Amnesty
12:00 pm: Snack Time
12:00-2:30 pm: STEAM Workshops & Story Time
Spots for our Fall Sumi-e Workshops (ink drawing) with artist, Alejandra Nanishi, are still available! Over the coming months, we will offer two more beginner (Level 1) workshops, as well as two new advanced (Level 2) workshops. These Level 2 Workshops will allow participants to continue nurturing their ink painting skills while using a contemporary approach to the craft. Level 2 workshops will require prior experience. The dates available are as follows:
August 29, 2026: Level 2
September 12, 2026: Level 1
September 26, 2026: Level 2
October 10, 2026, 2026: Level 1
All workshops run from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. We only have a limited number of spots for the workshops, so make sure to secure your spot! The workshops have a price of $25 per person, which includes all materials necessary and the price of the class. Open to ages 13 and up.
