Hello all,

This upcoming Sunday, marks the 153rd anniversary of Emancipation Day here in Puerto Rico. Due to the heroic efforts of abolitionists and enslaved people alike, around 3,000 slaves were liberated under the "Ley de Abolición de la Esclavitud en Puerto Rico" passed by the Spanish National Assembly on March 22, 1873. To commemorate this day, the library will be open.

Spring break is just around the corner. The library will be closed from Wednesday, April 1, 2026 to Sunday, April 5, 2026. You may return your books at any time using the green mailbox by the front entrance of the library or check out our online catalog of eBooks and audiobooks on Libby. As customary, fines will not be accumulated over the break.

Save the date! National Library Week is a time to celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. Saturday, April 18, 2026 join us to celebrate National Library Week 2026 with a day of activities including story time, craft time, and book sale. Stay tuned for more details!

Wishing you all a lovely week from our library family to yours.
