Holiday greetings to you all,

We'd like to first thank all of those who joined us for our Holiday Gathering, our final library activity of the year. Every library activity is special, but this get-together always feels extra special. We thank you greatly for your participation and support and hope to see you back for our events next year.

Reminder! The library will be closed for the holidays from Sunday, December 21, 2025 to Tuesday, January 6, 2026. We will open briefly on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 1:30pm-4:30pm for any members who wish to return, renew or check out new books, but no books are due this day.

We will close again for the New Year and Three Kings Day until Wednesday, January 7, 2026. As customary, fines will not be accumulated over the break and all of our members can access our online catalog of eBooks and audiobooks 24/7 through the Libby app. We will not be accepting book donations until January 2026, as we will not be able to process the books while we are closed.

We still have spots available for our quickly approaching Youth Writing Workshop. The workshop will be taught by Puerto Rican Newbery book award winner, Andrea Beatriz Arango, best known for her books Iveliz Explains It All, Something Like Home, and It's All or Nothing Vale. The workshop is bilingual (Spanish & English) and open to all children, ages 8-12. Whether you already dream of becoming an author or simply wish to improve your writing skills, this is the place for you to let your creative spark run lose!

Workshop dates: Saturdays, January 17, 24, and 31, 2026

Pre-registration is required. To reserve your space, send us an email to info@yourlibrarysanjuan.org with the participant's name and a contact number.

We would also like to thank our members for their end of year gifts.  We appreciate so much your support!  It is not too late if you would like to make a donation to support the library.

Donating is easy and quick. You may bring a check to the library, send a check to our P.O. Box or donate using the PayPal Giving Fund (PPGF).  All 3 ways guarantee that 100% of your donation will support our library's work in 2026.

We are very grateful for your support this holiday season, or anytime of the year. Thank you for your consideration.

We are happy to share that in 2025 we have circulated 22,796 books. To us, it not only represents an impressive mobilization of books, but also the mobilization of knowledge. Even from the silliest or simplest books, there is always something to learn about ourselves, others, or the world. In 2025, our youngest readers impressed us most by dominating the list of most circulated books of the year. The most read books of 2025 at our library are:

  1. Dog Man: Mothering Heights by Dav Pilkey

  2. Dog Man: The Scarlet Shedder by Dav Pilkey

  3. La mano de Fatima by Ildefonso Falcones de Sierra

  4. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball by Jeff Kinney

  5. Dog Man: Lord of the Fleas by Dav Pilkey

Thank you for making San Juan Community Library and our books a part of your lives!

Wishing you all a happy holiday season and a great start to the new year.
