Hello all,

Back for round 2! In collaboration with our friends at Spark Labs, STEAM workshops are back at San Juan Community Library to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Spark Labs is a non-profit organization, founded and directed by Lorena Pachiardi, with the goal of making STEAM concepts more accessible to children. STEAM is an expanded interdisciplinary approach to teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that integrates the arts, further expanding upon STEM education.

By integrating literature and hands on exposure to concepts like circuits, coding, and robotics in an accessible and fun format, these workshops are the perfect opportunity to spark a new curiosity for STEAM. Available for all children, ages 7+. Free of charge!

If you'd like to participate in our STEAM Workshops, please pre-register here.

Alongside the STEAM workshops, we'll have author, molecular biologist and educator, Dr. Liz Hernández, for a live reading of her book, La niña del maletín azúl. This inspiring book is a fantastic opportunity to continue fostering an interest in science, as it tells the true story of a Puerto Rican girl whose curiosity, perseverance, and love of learning led her to become a scientist. Bring your questions and get your book signed by the author herself! Story time starts at 11:00am!

As customary with our Saturday events, you can also expect a $5 bag sale. Fill up a grocery store bag with books for only $5! Our entire sales section is available for the sale. Bags for the sale will be available on site or you may bring your own. We hope to see you there!
