Announcing our new Ink Painting Workshop (Sumi-e) at your Library

Hello all,

Announcing our new Ink Painting Workshop (Sumi-e) with Puerto Rican artist Alejandra Nanishi. Sumi-e is a traditional Japanese monochromatic art style that seeks to capture the essence of nature with simple, fluid and intentional lines. With more than 13 years of experience in visual arts and informal education, Nanishi, has represented Puerto Rico with national and international expositions and has a long record of developing art programs with a technical and social focus.

In this workshop you will:

·                 Learn the fundamentals of ink painting. 

·                 Explore a contemporary approach to Sumi-e.

·                 Connect with Puerto Rican nature as a source of inspiration.

·                 Develop tools to continue practicing at your own pace. 

The workshop consists of one class on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm and has a cost of $25, which covers the cost of the class as well as all the materials needed. Open to all participants, 13 and up. To separate your space, send us an email to info@yourlibrarysanjuan.org with the participant's name and a contact number. You do not need any prior experience, simply a want to create and explore!

Announcing more spaces available for our Saturday art classes for children with Maestra Cuca! The morning session is from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, open to all children ages 8-13.
